Rowland Forman The Lost Art of Lingering

Reading The Lost Art of Lingering gives you a gallery of the best quotes from the best books on mentoring. As an avid reader and quote collector, the author treats us with richly colored quotes from the best writers on the topic, which gives you a sense of having read a library on mentoring. What if we approached mentoring relationships to listen and learn, rather than merely talk and teach? What if mentoring friendships became the norm in your church rather than an off-to-the-side ministry? This book is an invitation to engage in relational slowing, to linger long enough for spiritual friendships to develop over time. It is also a call to fold key mentoring practices into your life or small group so that they become life-changing habits. The Lost Art of Lingering is also for leaders who dream about a day when God will create a mentoring/disciple-making culture in their church. They long to see Spirit-orchestrated transformational friendships folded into every aspect of church life, where two or more people come with the attitude: "I've come to listen to you and the Holy Spirit through you. I've come to learn from you and want to be real with you. I'm a work in progress, so please come and grow with me."
