Michael S. Luzzi Trumpty Dumpty Invades Mother Goose

Trumpty Dumpty Invades Mother Goose is the new title for the original Trumpty Dumpty (2018). Nothing else has changed. It a unique book of parody rhymes, a cleverly crafted political satire that captures the chaotic journey of Trump & Co. through the campaign and the first year in the White House. Inside these pages, the reader will find Mother Goose characters reimagined as members of the Trumpty cohort that the public has come to know so well - however brief their time on the national stage. "Jack and Jill" emerge as "Vlad and Don." "Little Pence Veep," "Itsy Bitsy Betsy," "Little Jeff Sessions," and many others follow suit, as the contemporary players are substituted for their classic nursery rhyme counterparts. "Sing a song of Mike Pence, /A pocket full of lies, /Contact with the Russians?/ Denies, denies, denies / When it was discovered/That Flynn had lied to Pence, /Cries to investigate/Began to all make sense " Throughout the book, dynamic illustrations amplify and enrich the poignancy of the poems and help to capture, with a wit of their own, the essence of the unruly tenure of 45's presidency. These satirical representations of the outrageous behaviors of the Trump administration - while critical and often stinging - are less an attack and more an expos . It was an event that has threatened to tear the fabric of this country apart - thread by slender thread - until there is nothing left but a democracy in shreds: The UNTIED States of America. I felt betrayed...Thank God for the monologues of the late-night comedians who took on all of the increasingly incomprehensible political events as they unfolded, dressed them up in the irony that t best, and presented news to viewers that was (and continues to be) historically accurate and hilarious at the same time. Satire at its best.
