This pioneer anthology of Russian spiritual life deals with the lives and teachings of saints and other outstanding and influential figures of the Russian Orthodox Church from the eleventh to the twentieth centuries. It was compiled by Professor Fedotov, formerly of Paris and after Professor of Church History at the Russian Theological Seminary in New York. The economic, social, political, and intellectual aspects of Russian development have attracted lasting attention, but the spiritual side has been too often neglected.
