This textbook on industrial geography examines the impact of restructuring and change at the level of the factory, the firm and the production system. It examines industrial geography in the context of modern economic change, particularly restructuring, plant closure and "de-industrialization". The book adopts a structure embracing the three scales of manufacturing. Industrial location is a cornerstone of the teaching of economic geography, but with the transformation of manufacturing in the past decade, the impact of de-industrialization, the rise of Taylorism and post-Fordism and the globalization of production, existing textbooks may be out of date.
