Cathy Scarlet og Tom Feather har besluttet sig for at starte deres egen cateringforretning i Dublin. Toms forældre er meget skuffede over, at han har valgt at vende familiens byggefirma ryggen, Cathys svigermor, Hannah, som i forvejen er skuffet over sønnen Neils valg af hustru, mener, at Scarlet Feather bare er en frugtesløs hobby, og at Cathy hellere skulle blive hjemme og pusle om sin mand - og Toms forhold til sin smukke, ambitiøse kæreste, Marcella, bliver mere og mere anspændt som følge af hendes stræben efter at virkeliggøre sin drøm om at blive fotomodel.
