This volume is a collection of papers presented in the third of a series of meetings devoted to research methods in information systems. This edition, from the Philadelphia meeting, discusses the emerging maturation of qualitative information system research approaches, the welcoming of a diversity of approaches (both quanitative and positivist) and reflective essays that assess what qualitative information systems research has, and has not, accomplished. In general, it aims to provide an understanding of the state of the art of qualitative research in the information systems discipline.
