American writer and style Icon C.Z. Guest (Mrs F.C. Winston Guest, 1920 – 2003) in her Villa Artemis, Palm Beach, taken by Slim Aarons in 1955.C.Z. Guest was a prominent figure in American high society, known for her impeccable style and taste. She was an accomp- lished writer and garden designer and was often featured in society pages and fashion magazines.The outtakes of the photo show Guest with one of her dogs and highlight her immaculate sense of style. Her signature style included simple, sporty separates-shirts, Capri pants, riding jackets, or ball gowns with a cardigan thrown over the shoulders. Along with her natural elegance, Guest’s fiery in- telligence and the irreverent twinkle in her pale blue eyes are undoubtedly what captivated Aarons.Villa Artemis, the estate where the photograph was taken, was a sprawling property located on the oceanfront in Palm Beach, Florida. Villa Artemis was designed in 1916 for Frederick and Amy Phipps Guest by architect F. Burrall Hoffman.
