Laurel Burch was a self-taught artist who began her career selling handmade jewellery in her hometown of San Francisco in the 1960s. From her fertile imagination, she created brilliantly coloured, vibrant and moving themes, exquisitely embellished with gold and silver.Laurel’s celestial theme evolved over the years in a brilliant colour palette emblazoned with shimmering details, including rainbow-hued fish and sprays of colourful flowers cavorting with her suns, moons and stars. According to the artist herself, this exuberant motif was inspired by the belief that these ethereal elements are shared by every human being and are an ever-present part of the continuum of life.
