Produktbeskrivelse

J. R. R. Tolkien's epic tale "Beren and Luthien" is a beautiful legend from Middle-Earth. A mortal man, Beren, fell in love with an immortal Elf princess called Lúthien. Lúthien's father disliked her choice of lover and set Beren on an impossible quest. He was only allowed to wed Lúthien if he succeeded in robbing the evil Melkor of a Simaril. The tale of Beren and Lúthien was instrumental for the evolution of Tolkien's "Simarillion". However, the story changed over the years as Tolkien developed the larger history of Middle-Earth further. In this version of "Beren and Luthien" the author's son, Christopher Tolkien, has meticulously collected every version of the story in order to show the evolution behind the writing of the legend. "Beren and Luthien" by J. R. R. Tolkien contains Tolkien's original version from 1916 as well as later versions that impart the narrative in prose and verse. Together these versions reveal hereto unknown aspects of the famous narrative.
