Kristina Suko The Devil and the Midwife

A passionate midwife and devilish Laird clash in an arranged marriage amongst the rolling hills of 18th century Scottish Highlands. Perfect for fans of Outlander and Call the Midwife . At twenty-seven years of age, Caitriona Irving is firmly settled into her life as a midwife and a spinster. Eager to overcome her ruined reputation, she has put years into becoming a self-sufficient woman and a competent Howdie, despite her mother's disappointment and her parents' failing estate. Marriage is not in her future. Until, that is, the Devil himself shows up at her door... in the tempting, infuriating form of a reclusive Laird. Rhys Macnammon, the widowed Laird of Calhoun Castle, revels in solitude. A morbid past and life of war has gained him the reputation of Beast on the Battlefield, the Devil of Calhoun. He has never met a challenge he could not overcome. Even the threat of a clan war at his doorstep seems easy to handle. But when he arranges to marry the daughter of a neighboring Laird in order to appease his clan, he is not expecting the fiery redhead to disrupt his entire world... and reignite a passion he has forgotten for over ten years. But their marriage of convenience might not be enough to stop the clan war. Can the foreboding Laird and tenacious Midwife overcome their differences to bring about peace, or will the secrets of their past be the undoing of the entire clan?
