Teaser: "Why is it that whenever we meet, you are always in an uncompromising situation?" The newcomer says, instilling a mix of terror and relief in me. Despite the darkness in the room, I immediately recognize the man who saved me from certain death. My wolf lets out a happy yelp inside my head as it acknowledges the presence of our mate. Aldriech takes a step towards me, his warm chocolate eyes fixed on mine, making me crave the comfort of his arms. His gaze surveys me, and suddenly, I feel self-conscious. I'm certain my cheeks are bruised from the slaps, my hair is dishevelled, and half of my dress is torn in the upper part. Looking like an utter mess is probably an understatement to define my current appearance. My mate's eyes darken with anger as he assesses the damage that's been inflicted upon me. He takes one step to close our distance while still holding the bloodied sword in his hand. "I-" I try to speak, but the words catch in my throat. The corners of my eyes heat up with tears. He has already saved me twice. "This is exactly why I need to keep an eye on you," he murmurs softly and reaches for my wrist to pull me close to him. His massive frame encircles my small body, creating a sense of security that makes me feel safe from any storm. "You're safe now. I got you, mate."
