Jasper C. Hernandez Hermetic Music

"The author, M. Sc. & M. Arts Jasper C. Hernández, with the Muse, brings the recovery of musical hermeticism to readers here. Written as the very harmony of the cycle that encompasses leaps in musical knowledge ('Harmonics' by C. Ptolemy, 'De Musica' by Boethius, 'Utriusque Cosmi' by R. Fludd), this book is the treatise on Hermetic Music that continues that tradition. Within it lies a Sophia for music, linking its physics and its metaphysics, its sound and its silence. It articulates how music operates on the soul through the analysis, commentary, and development of ancient texts. Hermetic music thus comprehends the tradition of the nature of the soul in relation to the operation that music applies to it, or the so-called secret fire of artistic inspiration. Here is posed how music should be studied to occupy its natural place, and why both the individual and the collective are transformed by it. If the human being is moved by forces linked to the wave phenomenon (cycles), their internal waves (anima/animus) are configured as if they were a musical instrument. Included in its index are: Light and the vibratory phenomenon Tetraktys and the symbolic music of numbers The Pythagorean scale and its symbolism Music and Memory (tradition of G. Bruno) The Musical Mirror (speculative music) Total number of possible melodies Inspiration (its causes, consequences, and nature) The Muses Robert Fludd Musical ecstasy Jacob's ladder and musical initiation etc. Further: Wave theory, intervals, resonance, combinatorics, astrology, string theory, ... what lies ahead is a unique treatise that seeks to address the hermetic question, namely, the set of resonant natural laws that operate from the archetypal towards what governs the individual (destiny), to then propose that these resonances produce alterations in the movement (cycles) and destiny of the human being when employed according to ancient spirituality (hermeticism). As can be studied, music (harmony of cycles) brings the individual closer to truth and has nothing to do with what is taught in conservatories. This volume lays the groundwork for the natural and humanistic teaching of music. In this and the following volumes, the tradition and reform of Giordano Bruno are followed, along with the neoplatonism of the School of Florence (Marsilio Ficino, Pico della Mirandola), the hermetic tradition of Robert Fludd, the erudite work of Athanasius Kircher, and the science of Johannes Kepler. All to articulate the capacity of music to awaken internal dynamics and, through it, to unite what is separated in the evergreen language of hermetic music. Musica ex lumen. Author Jasper C.
