Tom Hyland The Wines of Campania

The region of Campania in southern Italy is famous for its remarkable beauty, but it is less known for its distinctive wines, even though wine production here dates back several thousand years. Tom Hyland, a journalist specializing in Italian wines, is a frequent visitor to Campania and a lover of this land and its products. He has written this book for anyone who wants to learn about the districts, producers and specific wines that make Campania such a compelling wine center, one that should be better known. Numerous aspects are covered in depth, including its lengthy history of wine production, as well as detailed notes about its multifaceted array of white and red wines, both famous (Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo, Taurasi) and not so famous (Piedirosso, Falerno del Massico, Coda di Volpe). There is also a chapter on specialty foods of the region, with thoughts from producers about their favorite local dishes, and which wines they believe are ideal accompaniments for these courses. Whether you are a wine lover of many years or simply someone that wants to learn more about this stunning land, The Wines of Campania offers a thorough study of one of the world's most historic and individualistic win regions.
