Matteo Bonistalli Beyond Leadership: Considerations on the Challenges of Implementing Modern Management Strategies

The experiment conducted in 1927 by Elton Mayo and Fritz J. Roethlisberger at the Hawthorne plant of Western Electric in Illinois represents, perhaps, one of the first recognitions of the importance of employee well-being within companies. Since then, numerous studies by psychologists and sociologists have explored these dynamics, which are now revisited and expanded upon by scholars in light of the new challenges organizations and leaders face in fostering quality leadership. However, despite the discoveries and technologies at our disposal, many of the issues that characterized the workplace at the beginning of the 20th century remain unresolved. In the book Beyond Leadership, the author does not present specific theories or strategies to address these issues but offers fundamental reflections that should underpin every management or training action to attempt to balance employee well-being with the company's well-being - elements that, according to the author, are inseparable and mutually essential. Matteo Bonistalli has a decade of experience in the tourism and service industries, excelling in customer-facing roles and team leadership. His insights into work psychology and the techniques employed in human resources are reflected in this book, providing readers with a valuable guide to modern leadership.
