Dg Rampton Daphne: Re-education of a Duchess

Daphne's Story - A charming series starter from bestselling humorous historical romance author DG Rampton. a sweet, feisty Duchess with an irrepressible habit of seeing the good in everyonea presumed-dead, brooding Duke who has no time for "good" and even less for an enticing wifea straight-talking parrot with a penchant for poorly-timed commentarya marriage of convenience that is anything but convenient In the 1st instalment of the Taming of the Dukes series, an enjoyable widowhood is interrupted by the forced return of a husband who has no wish to claim his wife or his title. It is a truth universally acknowledged that when a lady is an heiress the paperwork takes precedence over the romance. And young Miss Daphne Jones is not one to protest against this precept, nor to complain when she ends up married to the "wrong" brother - the black-sheep son of the Duke of Burlington. Admittedly, she does find it a little trying when her groom dashes off back to India before the wedding breakfast has grown cold and soon after she is thrown into the whirlwind of becoming a duchess and a widow, all before her seventeenth birthday. Still, it is undeniably an efficient way to handle a marriage of convenience. Seven years later, the somewhat eccentric duchess has found contentment in taking care of her two younger sisters, her absentminded brother-in-law, and an ever-growing menagerie of pets. The only thing missing from her life is a child of her own, but as she has finally accepted one of the many proposals to come her way, she feels confident this small detail will soon take care of itself. However, when her husband is deposited on her doorstep - unconscious but very much alive - her life and heart spiral out of her control and she is faced with a seemingly insurmountable problem not covered by any etiquette manual: how does one go about seducing a ruinously handsome stranger who is determined to treat his own wife with avuncular detachment and is set on an annulment? Why readers will love DAPHNE "Bridgerton Without the Sex": All the chemistry and banter of a high-society Regency romance, kept clean (mostly), witty, and wonderfully heartwarming. Much Loved Tropes: Marriage of Convenience, Grumpy/Sunshine, and the "Return of the Prodigal Husband." Animal Chaos: A menagerie of animals that prove life is even better with a little fur and feathers around. Feel-Good Guarantee: Like all of DG Rampton's novels, Daphne is an endorphin hit designed to leave you with a smile and a happy ending.
