Dor Shachar From Gaza to Tel Aviv

Gaza. For months, the name has dominated every headline and news broadcast. But what do we truly know about life there, beyond the slogans and reports of war? - The most profound and honest answer isn't in the news; it's in the life story of someone who grew up there. This is the story of Ayman Abu Soobuch, born in 1977 in Khan Yunis, in the very heart of the Gaza Strip. He grew up as the third child of a Muslim family, living near monsters like Yahya Sinwar, Mohammed Deif, and Yahya Ayyash. But a single, transformative moment changed the course of his life. In his gripping story, he details his harrowing and painful odyssey-a life marked by violence, persecution, social exclusion, constant threats, and deep humiliation. He recounts being handed over to the Palestinian Authority, the unspeakable torture he endured in a Gaza prison, and his relentless battle in Israel against an unsympathetic police force, exploitative employers, and the rigid bureaucracy of the conversion system. His journey, fueled by an unyielding hope, taught him that true miracles can happen, that kindness can be found in the most unexpected places, and instilled in him the power of determination, profound faith, and ultimately, the freedom to choose: Life, not death; Love, not hatred; Light, not darkness. Today, he travels the world, advocating for Israel, sharing his unique story, and spreading the message embedded in his new name: Dor Shachar - which means a generation of love, the dawn of a new day.
