Kendrick S. Cornelius Codex Gigas (Complete Collection & Large Print)

This book presents a clear and steady modern English rendering of one of the most extraordinary manuscripts ever created. Known for centuries as the Devil's Bible, this monumental volume has shaped the study of medieval scripture, monastic learning, and the transmission of knowledge across Europe. This edition offers readers a calm and accessible guide to its content, design, and scholarly value. For the first time, the full range of material preserved in the giant manuscript is gathered into a single, structured English presentation. Readers will find Scholarly Notes, Historical Analysis, and a Complete Illustration of the Devil's Bible and the Largest Medieval Manuscript in the history of Christianity, written with clarity and respect for the world it came from. The biblical section is explained in steady detail without reproducing the full text, while the surrounding works (Isidore's writings, the selections from Josephus, the passages from Boethius, the medical records, and the regional chronicle) are presented in plain modern English for direct reading and study. This volume serves anyone interested in early Christian studies, medieval scholarship, monastic culture, ancient literature, historical theology, or the transmission of sacred texts. It guides the reader page by page through a manuscript that has stirred interest for centuries, offering context for its creation, explanation of its internal structure, and a stable narrative of the world that produced it. Every section has been arranged to support slow reading, careful study, and long-term reference. Students, researchers, pastors, manuscript collectors, and general readers will appreciate the way this edition brings the Codex Gigas into a format that is both comprehensive and approachable. It stands as a steady companion for personal learning, academic work, and quiet reflection, placing this remarkable manuscript within reach of anyone seeking to understand its history and contents.
