James Relington Evolving the Platform Team

Evolving the Platform Team: Organizational Topologies, Product Ownership, and Strategic Roadmapping explores how modern technology organizations transform their platform teams from isolated service providers into strategic enablers of innovation. Through an in-depth examination of structure, culture, and leadership, the book reveals how to align platform strategy with business outcomes, cultivate product ownership, and design sustainable operating models. It guides readers through the evolution of platform maturity-covering governance, developer experience, reliability, and financial stewardship-while emphasizing the human and organizational dimensions that underpin long-term success. This work serves as both a practical framework and a philosophical guide for building adaptive, outcome-driven platform organizations in an era of continuous change.
