Vivin Vinson ABB Robot Programming- Practical Applications

ABB Robot Programming - Practical Applications Palletizing Spot Welding Handling Applications This book is the practical continuation of Basics of ABB Industrial Robotics - designed for learners who have completed the fundamentals and are ready to write real RAPID programs for industrial robot applications. Unlike theory-heavy resources, this book focuses entirely on what happens on the shop floor. Each chapter is built around a complete, working application - with full RAPID code, step-by-step explanation, program logic, and common errors to watch out for. What This Book Covers: Pick and Place - Complete RAPID program with gripper control, approach points, WaitDI signal logic, and continuous cycle structurePalletizing - Position calculation using direct .trans assignment, parametrized procedures, FOR loop grid logic, layer alternation with orientation change, and a Teaching routine for easy re-teachingSpot Welding - Servo gun configuration, gundata and welddata setup, SpotL and SpotJ instructions, tip dress counter logic, and weld timer integrationRobotStudio Simulation - Step-by-step station setup for all three applications including virtual controller creation, target teaching, and collision checkingTroubleshooting - Common programming, motion, I/O, and spot welding errors with clear causes and solutionsPractice Exercises - Five hands-on exercises including a combined palletizing and pick and place application Who This Book Is For: This book is ideal for ITI, diploma, and engineering students who have completed basic ABB robotics training, freshers entering the automation industry, and working engineers looking to strengthen their RAPID programming skills. Robotics trainers will also find ready-to-use application examples for classroom instruction. Prerequisites: Readers should have a basic understanding of ABB robot structure, FlexPendant operation, coordinate systems, and introductory RAPID programming. All of these topics are covered in Book 1 - Basics of ABB Industrial Robotics. A note from the author: The programs and procedures in this book are based on real hands-on experience in robotics training and automation projects. The goal is simple - to help you write programs that actually work, understand why each instruction is used, and build the confidence to apply these skills on a real robot cell.
