H. P. Lovecraft og H.P. Lovecraft H.P. Lovecraft

Enter the strange and beautiful Dreamlands of H. P. Lovecraft. Known above all as the father of cosmic horror, Lovecraft was also a visionary fantasist. Influenced by the dreamlike mythologies of the nineteenth century and transformed by his own unmistakably dark imagination, his fantasy stories reveal another side of the writer who changed supernatural fiction forever: romantic, melancholy, adventurous, and filled with impossible cities, forgotten gods, enchanted seas, and realms beyond waking life. The Dream Cycle gathers sixteen of Lovecraft's greatest works of fantasy and dream into a single carefully arranged volume. Beginning with the haunting beauty of "Celephaïs" and the apocalyptic vision of "Nyarlathotep," the collection follows the strange roads connecting waking reality to Lovecraft's Dreamlands-a realm of mysterious gods, fantastic kingdoms, winged creatures, ancient cities, and perilous wonders. At the heart of the volume stands Randolph Carter, Lovecraft's recurring dreamer and adventurer. From "The Statement of Randolph Carter" and "The Unnamable" through "The Silver Key," Carter gradually emerges as the hero of a larger journey that culminates in The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath, Lovecraft's extraordinary novel of fantasy, nightmare, and cosmic adventure. Along the way are such classics as "Polaris," "The White Ship," "The Cats of Ulthar," "The Doom That Came to Sarnath," "The Quest of Iranon," "The Strange High House in the Mist," "Hypnos," "The Other Gods," and "Pickman's Model." Arranged for dramatic and thematic effect rather than chronology, this Bell & Brier edition presents Lovecraft's Dreamlands as a single unfolding imaginative world-a place where the boundaries between memory, longing, nightmare, and transcendence gradually disappear.
