Maxine Rudolph The Lesser Key of Solomon

The Lesser Key of Solomon remains one of the most enigmatic and powerful texts in the history of Western mysticism. In this definitive edition, writer and historian Maxine Rudolph presents a complete historical and philosophical study of the Ars Goetia - the first and most famous section of the Solomonic grimoire that lists and describes the seventy-two spirits said to serve King Solomon. Drawing upon centuries of manuscripts, translations, and esoteric commentary, this work explores not only the structure of the Goetia itself but the worldview that gave birth to it. Through careful research and vivid interpretation, Maxine Rudolph reveals how the text reflects humanity's oldest questions about knowledge, morality, and divine order. Step by step, the reader is guided through: • The origins and evolution of the Lesser Key of Solomon • The hierarchy of spirits, their symbolism, and historical context • The philosophical principles of invocation and command • The moral law of magic and the balance of divine authority • The transformation of the magician and the path to illumination Richly detailed and elegantly written, this book restores dignity to a subject too often clouded by fear or fantasy. It shows that the Goetia was never merely a manual of conjuration but a mirror of human consciousness - a coded reflection of the struggle between light and shadow within the soul. Both a historical study and spiritual reflection, The Lesser Key of Solomon: The Complete Historical and Occult Study of the Goetia and Its 72 Spirits invites the modern reader to look beyond superstition and discover the wisdom at the heart of one of the most enduring mysteries of the Western esoteric tradition.
