Wojciech Wasilewski A Letter to the Newly Diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease

The day you hear the words "You have Parkinson's," the floor tilts. And the questions come faster than anyone can answer them. What happens now? Will I still be myself? Can I still have a good life? Am I going to be okay? Wojciech Wasilewski was diagnosed at thirty-six. A decade later, he is still working full-time, still walking for hours, still raising his son. This is the letter he wishes someone had placed in his hands on that first, frightening day. It is not a medical textbook. It is an honest, warm, surprisingly practical letter from one patient to another - written by someone who has already walked the road you are just stepping onto. Inside, you'll find honest answers to the questions nobody prepares you for: • What to do in the first thirty days after diagnosis • How to talk to your doctor - and the questions worth bringing • How to tell your spouse, your children, the people you love • What actually helped in the first months and years - and the mistakes that cost the most unnecessary fear • What tends to speed the disease, and what tends to slow it • How to find real hope without pretending everything is fine There is no false promise here, and no miracle cure - only the steady, hard-won perspective of someone living it, ten years on. Short enough to read in an evening. Honest enough to read again on a hard one. If you, or someone you love, just heard the words, this is where to begin. You are not alone. There is life after a Parkinson's diagnosis - and it can still be a good one.
