Lana Corujo Han Cantado Bingo/ They Called Bingo

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION A POET AND ILLUSTRATOR'S STORYTELLING DEBUT: TWO SISTERS BOUND BY A GAME, A VOLCANO, AND TRAGEDY. It all begins with a game: some evenings, in those ten minutes hanging before Grandma returns after playing bingo, two sisters sneak out the back door to The Hangman--a round volcano with a top crater--they count to three and run home without looking back. However, one evening, something changes... For once you cross the threshold of a violent childhood, what is your take on the world? Fifteen numbers appear on a bingo card--the protagonist's ages throughout the novel, represented as a fly or a butterfly fluttering over the title of each chapter--and in those ten suspended minutes that a game lasts, anything is possible. They Called Bingo features a family with a gift that is passed down and endured, and a rugged history, such as the coarse rofe in Lanzarote. With a playful and captivating language, both beautiful and cruel, Lana Corujo brings us closer to silence and guilt, to verbenas , wounds, and the kind of dark magic that only two sisters sharing a secret are able to weave.
