Bo Giertz og Bror Erickson Then Fell the Lord's Fire

Then Fell the Lord's Fire is a treasured collection of ordination sermons and pastoral theology essays by renowned bishop Bo Giertz. Since its first English translation in 2012, it has become a cherished ordination gift and a go-to resource for pastors seeking wisdom, encouragement, and theological depth. The book is divided into two parts. The first features Giertz's brief yet powerful ordination sermons--rich in both law and gospel, keeping pastors grounded in their calling to preach Christ and administer the sacraments. Many use these sermons as devotions during Advent or Lent, finding in them a deep well of grace and renewal. Giertz writes as one who understands the trials, temptations, and burdens of pastoral ministry--offering not just insight, but the mercy and encouragement that revives a weary heart. The second part contains essays that dive into the practical realities of pastoral work, offering both theological depth and real-world application. Even in his lectures, Giertz never stops preaching--always handing over the goods.
