Jim Cobb Common-Sense Everyday Carry

How to Choose and Use the EDC Gear You Didn't Know You Needed! Prepping isn't always about the end of the world. It's about smoothing the rough spots in life, whether that's at work, at home, or on the road. A solid Everyday Carry (EDC) plan helps with that. Jim Cobb's goal in Common-Sense Everyday Carry isn't to turn people into Batman caricatures, loaded down with utility belts and expensive gear of questionable usefulness. Rather, it's to help readers make informed, intelligent decisions about what they want or need to carry to make their daily lives safer and easier. In his easy-to-understand approach, Cobb lays out a three-layer system that almost anyone can adapt, taking into account your budget and environment, whether its urban, wilderness or workplace: - On body - What you routinely keep in your pockets or on your belt. - Off body - What you carry in a backpack, messenger bag, or similar conveyance. - Vehicle - What stays in your vehicle to get you back on the road or keep you safe until help arrives. Each chapter provides a detailed look at a specific category of gear. The author, an experienced gear reviewer, explains how to choose it and how to use it, and then follows up with specific recommendations so you know what brands to trust and which to avoid. Common-Sense Everyday Carry gives you the inside track on the critical-information categories you need to understand in a world where preparedness is essential: 1. Knives 2. Flashlights 3. First Aid 4. EDC tools 5. Electronics 6. Cordage 7. Firestarting 8. Water solutions 9. Watches 10. Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) 11. Self-defense weapons 12. Clothing 13. Vehicle tools and accessories 14. Bags and packs This book is so much more than a list of gear -- it's roadmap to to what you need to organize your life for safety and convenience during your daily routine.
