Anne Burton Tarot

There arose in the fourteenth century a system of moral and spiritual teachings, a system that was used as a game, a guide, and a tool for divination. It was a system steeped in the symbols and icons of Kings, clergy, courts, and the art of Renaissance Europe, a system of symbolism so powerful that it continues to teach us today. It is the Tarot. Although the first common use of the Tarot was as a game, shortly after its creation in approximately 1350, Tarot, or its predecessor, was adopted by monks to help them learn and remember the moral code, to see the various sides of human nature, and to grow in their spiritual lives. The cards contained spiritual insights held within pictures and symbols, which touch both our conscious and subconscious minds. Through the monks these truths were linked to Scriptures that taught and strengthened the seeker. In this book we will look into the fascinating history of the Tarot, its uses and meanings. We will look at the evolution of the cards from gaming to spiritual meditation and divination. We will re-establish connections between the Tarot and the wisdom of the Scriptures. We will elucidate the meaning of each card, and we will study the use of Tarot in acquiring a deeper knowledge of our past, present and future and ourselves. We will explain how to use the cards in the areas of divination and personal meditation. Information and details will be given on how to divine the past, present, and future as we explore the use of the cards in modern society. We will learn to use the cards as a meditation and tool to explore our deeper selves. From the year 1300 to today, this book bridges the gap and brings back to us the wisdom hidden in the cards but lost so long ago.
