Tarasevic What the Fire Took

Before he was king, Alaric was a dragon rider. Prince Alaric of Yazara never wanted the throne. Sent away to the brutal dragon academy of Ka'alorth, he is forced into a world where survival matters more than loyalty and only the strongest riders are chosen by dragons. At Ka'alorth, students are forged through ruthless trials, deadly rivalries, and a sky filled with fire. Alliances are fragile, betrayal is inevitable, and every lesson carries a cost. Among the riders, Alaric finds something he never expected: friendship, loyalty, and a golden dragon whose bond feels stronger than fate itself. But Ka'alorth was never meant to create heroes. It was meant to create survivors. As prophecy begins to whisper of blood in the snow and crowns born from destruction, Alaric must face a terrible truth: the path to power demands sacrifice, and the fire that gives a dragon rider strength can just as easily burn everything they love. By the time he returns to Yazara, the boy who left is gone. In his place stands the king history will remember. And the monster it will never understand.
