Uffe Elbæk Doubt, Hope, Action

Doubt, Hope, Action is Uffe Elbæk’s journey in search of hope and an invitation to a gentle revolution. In this thoughtful and provocative book, Elbæk explores many of the challenges and contradictions that define our time – especially the urgent question: What kind of world are we leaving for future generations? Chapter by chapter Elbæk confronts the planetary endgame we face. A collapse of both outer and inner structures. From climate collapse, epidemics and violent social, political and technological conflicts, through the weakening of democratic institutions, right-wing radicalisation and fighting over resources, to regional warfare and the reemergence of something looking very much like old-fashioned imperialism. He refuses to accept despair. Why? Because he knows that another world is possible. And that it is already here in the values-driven entrepreneurs, democratic businesses, citizen groups, cooperatives, cultural initiatives, organic farming collectives and a whole new generation of progressive political voices. Every one of them is a pledge that a green, democratic, post-capitalist society is possible. Blending sharp social analysis with heartfelt optimism, Doubt, Hope, Action urges progressive movements and all people to recognise their shared purpose—and to unite, mobilise, and act. Now is not the time to sit on the sidelines.
