Phd Ionescu Carla og Carla Ionescu She Who Endures

Long misunderstood, often misnamed, and regularly misrepresented, Artemis of Ephesus has survived for millennia, disguised, absorbed, erased, and now, rediscovered. In She Who Endures, Dr. Carla Ionescu offers a revelatory exploration of this powerful and enigmatic goddess, tracing her evolution from Anatolian protector and mother to Roman imperial icon, and ultimately to Christian shadow, where she survives, remarkably, in the image of the Virgin Mary. With scholarly rigour and devotional clarity, Ionescu examines the iconography, rituals, priesthoods, and sacred architecture of Artemis Ephesia, unpacking centuries of misinterpretation while restoring her complexity, sovereignty, and reach. Her cult statue, long misunderstood and mislabeled, is reinterpreted not as a fragmented fertility idol, but as a sacred body marked by bee eggs, lions, and divine symbols. These are the signs of a goddess whose presence never vanished, only fused, transformed, and endured. This is not only a scholarly investigation, it is a reclamation.¿This is the Artemis who endures, and who now, at last, steps forward.
