John Roberts Welcome Home - Fish or No Fish

A life at sea is more than just a job-it's a calling, a challenge, and sometimes, a battle against nature itself. In Welcome Home - Fish or No Fish , Skipper John Roberts takes readers on a deeply personal journey through his years as a fisherman, sharing stories of adventure, hardship, camaraderie, and the unbreakable bond between man and the sea. From his first trip aboard a Grimsby trawler as a wide-eyed eleven-year-old to the harsh realities of deep-sea fishing in UK, Icelandic and Barents waters, Roberts paints a vivid picture of an industry that demands resilience, skill, and an unwavering love for the ocean. He recounts exhilarating moments of success-when a gut feeling and years of experience lead to a net full of fish-as well as the dangers of storms, mechanical failures, and life-or-death rescues. This book is more than a memoir; it's a tribute to the fishing communities of Grimsby, the men who braved the world's wildest waters, and the little ships that carried them home. With gripping first-hand accounts, humour, and heartfelt reflection, Welcome Home - Fish or No Fish is a must-read for anyone fascinated by the sea, fishing heritage, or the true-life adventures of those who make their living where the land ends and the deep begins.
