Thomas Brooks Precious Remedies Against Satan's Devices

"Christ, the Scripture, your own hearts, and Satan's devices, are the four prime things that should be first and most studied and searched." Satan, Brooks warns, is a subtle adversary who tailors his temptations to each soul's particular weaknesses. In Precious Remedies , Brooks catalogues the devil's devices - his tactics for drawing believers into sin, keeping them from holy duties, and holding them in spiritual discouragement - and for each device provides biblical remedies by which it may be resisted. First published during the tumultuous years of the English Commonwealth, this book has never been out of print. Charles Spurgeon called Brooks's writings "doubly valuable" for combining natural wisdom with deep Christian faith. Modern readers will find in these pages the same searching, practical counsel that has equipped believers for spiritual warfare across four centuries. This edition presents Brooks's complete text with an introduction to his life and times.
