Tony Walker Twisted Fairytales

n this dark and uncanny collection by Tony Walker, the old stories stir in their graves-and some have begun to walk. A Cumbrian farmer strikes a drunken bargain for a golden egg and finds the debt is still enforced. A retired podcaster hunts the Green Chapel in Inglewood Forest and discovers that myth never died, it just stopped speaking. And in Grizedale, a wedding takes place deep in the woods with no priest, no guests, and no way back. In London, you'll meet Queen Mab, radiant and merciless, who trades in memory and silence. In Edinburgh's Old Town, small creatures watches the closes and wynds, corrupting and promising fame. And across the sea in Brittany, a bard follows a dream to the ruins of a dark tower-only to learn why such towers are best left buried in song. Ranging from the windswept fells of Cumbria to the haunted lanes of Scotland and the mossy forests of France, Twisted Fairytales offers a map of the uncanny-where every path leads deeper into the trees, and nothing waits at the end but a story you'd hoped wasn't true. The fairy realm is enchanting, beguiling, cruel and kind. Local folk call them the Good People, but they don't mean it. Tony Walker is narrator of The Classic Ghost Stories Podcast and author of ghost and horror stories rooted in place and the old ways.
