Elizabeth Earnshaw The Clinician's Guide to Intensive Couples Therapy

With intensive couples therapy, you can create the opportunity for real progress to be achieved--not weeks or months down the road but now, when the couple needs it the most. In The Clinician's Guide to Intensive Couples Therapy , you'll find an accelerated framework for couples therapy that involves meeting with clients for two to three consecutive days, for six hours at a time. Written by relationship expert and renowned Gottman therapist Elizabeth Earnshaw (@lizlistens) , this approach allows you to dive deep into the heart of relational issues--issues that are often too complex or take far too long to address in a typical weekly format. Whether you practice emotionally focused couples therapy, imago therapy, relational life therapy, or another modality, this book will allow you to work effectively (and quickly) with couples who are unable to meet weekly or who have reached a crisis point in their relationship. Inside, you'll find: Step-by-step instructions for navigating day one (joining, observation, assessment, goal setting) and day two (enactments, exercises, interventions) Policy recommendations related to suicidality, domestic violence, substance use, and secret-keeping Practical advice on policies, paperwork, billing, marketing, and managing client expectations Detailed vignettes illustrating how to integrate "intensives" into your current practice
