Fox Chapel Publishing Modern Sashiko (4, 2026) | Minori

This book features a curated collection of over 25 everyday projects and blends old styles of Kantha and Yao embroidery with the refined patterns of sashiko to create a new, modern approach to hand-stitching. Designed with today’s lifestyle in mind, the projects range from mini tote bags and drawstring pouches to home décor items like cushions, mats, and coasters—each one with step-by-step photos and instructions. Living with Sashiko also introduces six unique stitching styles from different regions, guiding readers through techniques that honor tradition while encouraging personal creativity. From the striking contrasts of indigo thread on cotton to soft, colorful patchwork patterns, the book evokes a sense of calm and purpose with every stitch. There’s also an introductory section with overviews on needles and thread, fabric, basic stitches, and ending stitches. Whether you're a beginner looking for accessible projects or an experienced stitcher wanting to explore cross-cultural designs, this book offers the tools and inspiration to transform everyday items into heartfelt works of art.
