How to Get Your Dog to Love Tracking! Dogwise Publishing, along with our friends at Kosmos-Verlag based in Germany, are happy to bring an English language of their best-selling tracking book, Tracking Training for All Dogs, to tracking enthusiasts all over the world. This book is the most comprehensive guide for anyone who wants to compete in tracking trials, but also can help those who to want to get out with their dogs and experience the thrill of watching them follow a scent trail. Tracking is a popular dog sport that can be done at the local level with friends at a local kennel club level, all the way to a world championship. Author Ute C. Fallscheer, successful trainer and dog sportswoman, teaches a tracking training methodology that promotes self-motivation and aims for voluntary learning on the part of the dog that is as error-free as possible. The training structure uses detailed step by step instructions, and the methods used are motivational with an emphasis on positive reinforcement. The author focuses initially on simple tracking exercises and moves on to those more challenging tracks that the handler and the dog will face in formal tracking competitions. Her techniques are tailored for competitive tracking and cover foundational elements like scent handling and trail-following in small, comprehensible steps. The book is well-regarded in the tracking community, particularly for its clarity in training methods that can be applied to both beginners to experienced participants in high level competitions. Champion tracker Michael Tomcazk says that "At last, a contemporary and competent handbook for training in the field of tracking with dogs and for training tracking dogs. This is a reference book for professionals and people experienced with tracking as well as a structured guide for beginners. In particular, it includes a list of possible training mistakes, their interpretation, and advice on how to correct them to ensure success. For readers with no experience, the book is an easy-to-follow introduction to tracking."
