Michael Gannon Eat, Drink And Be Merry...

Eat, Drink and Be Merry is a refreshing and eclectic short story collection with the theme of food and drink at its core. These humorous and insightful short stories look at the importance people have attached to eating and drinking during life and death. 'Trouble Was Brewing' is a tongue-in-cheek tale set in a tavern in ancient Egypt, which pokes fun at the British pub bore, and conversely, 'Bundle of Nothing' takes a serious look at a death march by Jewish women in 1945. 'Apple of Her Eye' is positively dripping with satire and is an apt opening to this entertaining collection; you may think you know the Adam and Eve story, but think again... Spanning all types of characters, cultures, languages and situations, you will not fail to raise a smile or even a titter at some of these highly original shenanigans. Every story is as memorable as its colourful characters - from English officers, and a Parisian Artist and his Irish guest, to fussy, talking mongrels who tell their side of the story, this refreshing read is definitely one to dip in and out of whenever the opportunity strikes. Satirical storytelling at its very best, Eat, Drink and Be Merry really packs a punch and is a must for all food and drink fanatics the world over.
