J. P. Moreland Scientism and Secularism

Rigid adherence to scientism—as opposed to a healthy respect for science—is all too prevalent in our world today. Rather than leading to a deeper understanding of our universe, this worldview actually undermines real science and marginalizes morality and religion. In this book, celebrated philosopher J. P. Moreland exposes the selfdefeating nature of scientism and equips us to recognize scientism’s harmful presence in different aspects of culture, emboldening our witness to biblical Christianity and arming us with strategies for the integration of faith and science—the only feasible path to genuine knowledge. Equips Christians to recognize scientism’s presence in different aspects of culture and confidently respond to its claims Explains and refutes two forms of scientism: strong (science is the only measure of truth) and weak (science is the best measure of truth) Presents 7 important truths about the world that scientism can never explain Explains a proper view of the integration of theology and science, examining issues such as intelligent design and creation, homosexuality, and the existence of the soul Author listed as one of the 50 most influential living philosophers by TheBestSchools.org
