Imre Lakatos Proofs and Refutations

The oil and gas industry are lowering emissions in all sectors and projects. Industrial actuators used throughout a variety of oil and gas assets can emit a substantial amount of emissions alone. Prevention of Actuator Fugitive Emissions in the Oil and Gas Industry delivers a critical reference for oil and gas engineers and managers to get up to speed on all the factors in actuator fugitive emissions. Packed with a selection process, the benefits of switching to an electric system, and the technology around open and closed loop hydraulic systems helps the engineer to understand today's options. Rounding with a detailed explanation around High Integrity Pressure Protection Systems (HIPPS), Prevention of Actuator Fugitive Emissions in the Oil and Gas Industry gives today's engineer's knowledge to tackle lowering emissions on today's equipment.Imre Lakatos's Proofs and Refutations is an enduring classic, which has never lost its relevance. Taking the form of a dialogue between a teacher and some students, the book considers various solutions to mathematical problems and, in the process, raises important questions about the nature of mathematical discovery and methodology. Lakatos shows that mathematics grows through a process of improvement by attempts at proofs and critiques of these attempts, and his work continues to inspire mathematicians and philosophers aspiring to develop a philosophy of mathematics that accounts for both the static and the dynamic complexity of mathematical practice. With a specially commissioned Preface written by Paolo Mancosu, this book has been revived for a new generation of readers.
