Joram Beda Nature of Information

This book redefines our understanding of information as more than mere data or communication—it presents information as the fundamental fabric of reality itself. Drawing from disciplines as diverse as quantum physics, evolutionary biology, cognitive science, artificial intelligence, and metaphysics, the book explores how information operates as a dynamic, organising force that sculpts the cosmos, consciousness, and civilisation. It delves into how biological evolution is driven by information processing, how neural complexity gives rise to consciousness, and how technological systems mirror the architecture of thought itself. The narrative connects classical theories—like entropy and natural selection—to modern advances such as integrated information theory, quantum computation, and recursive artificial intelligence. By weaving scientific analysis with philosophical reflection, the book argues that information is not a passive medium but an active force, guiding evolution, shaping reality, and potentially constituting the fifth fundamental force of nature. This book will be invaluable to students, researchers, and general readers across disciplines such as information theory, physics, evolutionary biology, computer science, neuroscience, philosophy of mind, and consciousness studies. It will also serve as an essential companion for thinkers, technologists, and educators seeking to understand the informational scaffolding behind nature, mind, and machines.
