Christopher Miller Designing Lessons in the AI-Infused Classroom

Designing Lessons in the AI-Infused Classroom shows middle- and high-school teachers how to redesign their lessons and units with intentional use of artificial intelligence (AI). In a world where students can use AI tools to complete traditional assignments without actually learning anything, educators' new challenge is to design learning experiences that AI can’t do for them. This book offers unit structures that tap into student curiosity, creativity, and collaborative potential through AI-supported learning across content areas. These ready-to-use strategies can be applied right away—without a steep learning curve—to help educators enhance proven classroom practices with AI’s potential. Educators will find frameworks and unit models that are practical and flexible, designed to work with the tools and pedagogy that teachers already know by enhancing traditional methods without replacing them. The author’s original five-stage lesson framework aligns meaningfully with academic goals and incorporates project-based learning, differentiated instruction, and authentic assessment. Teachers, teacher-leaders, and school technology coordinators will be better prepared to rethink traditional instruction and use AI to complement rather than replace human interaction and self-expression.
