Juan Santos Vara European Migration and Asylum Law

This incisive book provides an analytical overview of EU law and policy in the fields of migration, asylum and border management, and explores the political dynamics and legal uncertainties that characterise the field. The book explains the evolution of key EU migration and asylum policies, including the New Pact on Migration and Asylum, the Dublin system and the EU visa policy. Juan Santos Vara astutely analyses the cooperation with third countries, recognising its role as one of the most dynamic and controversial elements of migration and asylum policy. It also looks towards the future, investigating upcoming challenges and the implications of the fundamental rights included in the Treaties. European Migration and Asylum Law is an authoritative and essential reference for legal scholars and students researching European law, constitutional and administrative law, human rights law and European politics and policy. It will also provide a firm grounding for legal practitioners involved in the implementation of the New Pact on Migration and Asylum, as well as policymakers, think tanks, national parliaments and the Court of Justice.
