Constance Garnett, Leo Graf Tolstoy og Leo Tolstoy (Graf) The Kingdom of God Is Within You

Count Leo Tolstoy's "The Kingdom of God is Within You: Christianity Not as a Mystic Religion But as a New Theory of Life" is a profound exploration of Christian ethics and its radical implications for how we live. A cornerstone of Christian anarchism and pacifist thought, Tolstoy meticulously examines the teachings of the Sermon on the Mount, advocating for non-resistance to evil as a fundamental principle of Christianity. Challenging conventional interpretations of religious doctrine, Tolstoy argues that true Christianity transcends mysticism and offers a practical framework for social transformation. He delves into the religious aspects of resisting government authority, presenting a compelling case for a life lived according to the core tenets of Christian theology and moral teaching. This influential work has resonated with readers for generations, prompting deep reflection on the relationship between faith, action, and the pursuit of a just world. A vital contribution to the sociology of religion and Christian history, "The Kingdom of God is Within You" remains a powerful and thought-provoking text.
