Diane &. Peter Swan Kenya Wildlife and Safari Guide

Acclaimed BBC Wildlife Presenter CHRIS PACKHAM has written the foreword to this much sought after Kenya Wildlife and Safari Guide. In an extract from his foreword, he says: "This guide provides the perfect introduction to the most frequently encountered creatures and supplements everything about their behaviour and ecologies that you have forgotten from your armchair TV safaris, with a useful overview of their biology. It's accessible, easy to use, concise and had plenty of little nuggets of interest and importance." "My father was born in Kenya, and reading this wonderful book about Kenya's wildlife gave me great personal pleasure. A comprehensive guide, full of interesting facts, amazing pictures, and so easy to read." Rt Hon Rishi Sunak. This informative and unique guide provides visitors to Kenya with a level of knowledge and interest that will make your animal sightings more meaningful and authentic. It also serves as a useful handbook for those armchair enthusiasts wanting to develop their knowledge about African wildlife. The two authors have travelled extensively throughout Kenya, and have spent five years compiling this guide. A comprehensive 'Going on Safari' section allows the authors to pass on to you the benefit of their extensive knowledge gained over twenty-one years of independent travel in East Africa. With more than two hundred full colour images, this guide is packed with information, variety and interest. Sixty-five of the most popular fauna to be found in Kenya have their own full section, with further sections covering forty-one topics such as Habitats, Vegetation, National Parks, The Maasai Tribe, Translocation, Conservation, and the continent of Africa. A key focus of this book is to develop the reader's awareness of how so many species of wildlife in Kenya face a threat to their very existence, and a comprehensive and thought provoking section on Endangered Wildlife makes interesting reading. The authors' previous wildlife guide, on Tanzania, attracted acclaim from a number of international figures: Ambassador Dr. Pindi H. Chana, Tanzania Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism: "The Tanzania Wildlife and Safari Guide by Diane and Peter Swan provides an important contribution to our knowledge of wildlife resources in Tanzania and to tourism development. This guide is an invaluable resource to visitors to Tanzania, particularly those visiting our wildlife protected areas. I would like to thank Diane and Peter Swan for promoting Tanzania's tourism industry through this guide." Rt Hon Rishi Sunak, MP for Richmond (Yorks): "A comprehensive guide to the wildlife of Tanzania, full of interesting facts, wonderful pictures, and so easy to read." (Rishi's mother was born in Tanzania). Clare Peacock - Costa Foundation and Whitbread Legend Award Winner: "It is not just the wealth of factual information that impressed me (and so easy to read and understand) it is the inspirational way that the authors talk about the wildlife, about their experiences, and about the effect that Africa can have on you. The fact that the authors and publishers are donating all their profits to a charity that works with underprivileged children in Tanzania is amazing - this simply doesn't happen nowadays, so I take my hat off to them. This book does truly portray how beautiful the wildlife of Tanzania is, and the focus on endangered species - highlighted throughout by the authors - provides a wake-up call for us all. The 200+ pictures - all taken by the authors - add so much to the content of the book."
