Bart Sheehan og Daniel Casey Old Age Psychiatry

Any clinician or practitioner working with older people is likely to encounter psychiatric disorders, including common conditions like dementia, depression, and delirium, but also less familiar presentations such as substance misuse, phobias, or paranoid illness. The issues raised are often about diagnosis or treatment, but also often legal or ethical dilemmas involving assessment of capacity and potentially compulsion. This book provides advice about all the commonly encountered psychiatric disorders in older patients and the likely dilemmas and choices to be made. It sets out state-of-the-art knowledge about the main disorders and reflects recent progress in imaging, therapeutics, and new treatment methods. This new edition will be invaluable for practising and trainee clinicians needing a rapid briefing in the course of their clinical duties, but also for anyone needing to understand the latest thinking in this evolving field.
