Hunter S. Thompson Generation of Swine

The second volume of Hunter S. Thompson’s legendary 'Gonzo Papers'. Thompson at his apocalyptic best – covering emblematic events from the 1980s. In this collection of columns written for the San Franciso Examiner Hunter S. Thompson investigates the Swine of the Week with his signature vengeful exuberance and apocalyptic political vision. From L.A.’s Erotic Film Awards to immigration raids, the War on Almost Everything and his Caligulan disappointment in TV evangelists, ‘Dr Gonzo’ diagnoses the ‘huge brains, small necks, weak muscles and fat wallets’ of the worst of the worst in American New Politics – mad gamblers, hostile cabin crew and a very elderly president – a whole generation of swine. This snapshot of the late '80s provides a prophetic insight into the making of today’s America. With a show-biz penchant for the Book of Revelation, Thompson risks what’s left of his immortal soul to descend deep into the strange seedy world of Reagan’s White House. He is, after all, a professional.
